Welcome to Agape child support organization
Agape Child Support Organization has been providing support to children in Nambale sub-county, Busia county, Kenya through our development and humanitarian programmes. We work with communities, local partners, and the government to design and deliver programmes to meet the needs of the most deprived children. We also advocate for greater investment of public and private resources for children.
Our Programs
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
The United Nations classifies Kenya as a chronically water scarce country on the basis of having one of the lowest natural water replenishment rates, at 647 metres cubed per capita per annum which is far below the standard 1,000 metres cubed per capita per annum (UNICEF).
Health and Nutrition
Malnutrition statistics among children in Kenya are high. According to KDHS 2013/2014, 26% of children under-five years are stunted while the proportion of severely stunted is 8%. 4% of children are wasted and 1% is severely wasted whereas 11% of children are underweight and 2 % are severely underweight.
Adolescent, Sexual and Reproductive Health
Adolescents comprise 24% of Kenya’s population which has significant implications on the country’s health. The KDHS 2014, results showed a worrying trend in adolescent sexual and reproductive health indicators including high rates of HIV/AIDS infections.
